  | | | Sweet classics. February: Hot Cross Buns
| | Hot Cross Buns are a real favourite in Great Britain for breakfast and at tea time. They are a tradition on Good Friday, as the white cross on the baked goods is regarded as a symbol of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Hot Cross Buns are sweet rolls with sultanas and currants, refined with British mixed spice (cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and others). They taste best fresh and, for this reason, are mostly eaten warm, straight from the oven. In this case, the buns are spread liberally with butter. In Great Britain, the sweet rolls are extremely popular. There is even a nursery rhyme with the title “Hot Cross Buns”. Recipe Hot Cross Buns
